Citrus are wonderful additions to any garden, but not every garden has an ideal location for a Citrus tree. Sometimes soggy clay soil, or a winter frost problem, or the lack of a yard make in-ground planting impossible. However, many citrus can be successfully grown in containers which provides a solution to all of these problems. Join us for a short talk on growing citrus in containers, where we will discuss variety selection, container sizing, soil and fertilizing, watering, frost protection, and light requirements. In addition, we will be repotting a container-grown Lemon tree and explain why this is necessary to maintain the health of your tree. Participants should wear closed-toed shoes, layered clothing and a hat, as the class is held outdoors in our Pavilion . A refillable water bottle, notebook and writing implements are recommended. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to park and sign in. Please note: the park charges $6.00 for parking, or you can park on Chynoweth Avenue near Vauxhall Circle for free.
