Presenter: UC Master Gardener & Master Composter Laura Monczynski
More about the presenter: Laura Monczynski teaches classes throughout the county in both English and Spanish. Laura has had a passion for gardening since childhood when her father gave each child a row in which to plant whatever he or she wanted. She now has an entire garden to herself! Her focus is on edible organic gardening, with twenty fruit trees, a 1,000 square foot vegetable garden, and various herbs and vegetables tucked in pots wherever she can find a little space and sun. Laura has eight compost bins, three worm bins, and is serious about Reduce-Reuse-Recycle. Her household of two only produces about half a paper grocery bag’s worth of garbage each week. She is a little bit of a scavenger and is always looking for ways to keep things out of the landfill. She travels almost exclusively by bicycle and public transportation.
