Vegetable gardening is easy and rewarding in our mild Mediterranean climate. Learn to grow a successful, environmentally responsible garden that provides delicious vegetables and herbs every month of the year. We will cover all kinds of warm and cool-season varieties that do well in our area, from Arugula and Bok Choy to Tomatoes and Squash.
In this 6 week course, you will learn how to plan your garden, prepare your soil, grow from seed, and choose plants wisely at the nursery. We will also discuss how to identify and manage common pests, weeds, and diseases. This course stresses sustainable practices like mulching, water conservation, composting, and integrated pest management.
