Native to Eastern Asia, this pest was introduced to the United States in the 1990's and has been found in Santa Clara County. Described as “one of the worst invasive pests we’ve ever had in California” by UC Cooperative Extension advisor Chuck Ingels, this insect affects many different crops and is a serious residential problem. There's more information in the UC Pest Note on Brown Marmorated Stink Bug.
