The Basics

When to plant: January–early February

Harvest window: August–October, depending on variety

Fertilization: Nitrogen in spring, additional applications based on tree age, health, and soil quality

Annual care overview:

  • Prune in early winter (December–January)
  • Ensure trees have constant moisture during winter rainy season; irrigate more deeply / less frequently (every 1–3 weeks) later in the year
  • Monitor and control for common pests & diseases, such as bacterial canker disease, peach twig borer, San Jose scale, and mite eggs
