Working with clay soil doesn’t need to be a battle! See how the compacted clay soil at the Palo Alto Demonstration Garden (PADG) has been transformed into productive beds for vegetables, fruit trees, blueberry bushes, and water-wise ornamental plants.

You will learn about digging techniques, how to determine which amendments and fertilizers are needed, and using cover crops and mulches. How we manage common soil-dwelling pests and diseases will also be discussed.
